A Journey Beyond Validation

Freelancing has been an incredible part of my journey. It’s brought freedom, creativity, and opportunities to express myself. But along the way, I realized something—my sense of worth had quietly become tied to the approval and praise of others. As fulfilling as freelancing can be, it also came with moments where people-pleasing overshadowed my purpose, and I began seeking validation in ways that didn’t serve me.
Now, I’m on a journey to reclaim myself, to separate my value from external validation, and to rediscover the reasons I started freelancing in the first place. It’s a healing process, and I want to share some reflections and steps I’m taking:
1. Redefining Success
Success is no longer about likes, comments, or client praise. Instead, I’m learning to celebrate my growth, the lessons I’ve gained, and the quiet impact my work creates. Every project is a step forward, and that’s enough.
2. Healing from People-Pleasing
For years, I thought pleasing everyone was the key to growth. But now I see that setting boundaries isn’t selfish—it’s necessary. Saying “no” doesn’t diminish my work; it protects my energy and creativity. Each boundary I set is a reminder that my peace matters.
3. Finding Validation Within
I’m practicing self-approval. After finishing a task, I pause and affirm: “This is enough. I’m proud of this.” I’m learning that true confidence comes from within, not from external applause.
4. Reconnecting with My Purpose
Why did I start freelancing? Not to chase praise, but to create freely, to impact others, and to live a life aligned with my values. I’m focusing on these reasons and letting them guide me back to the joy of creation.
5. Creating for Freedom
When I post, I no longer want to overthink. I want to share my work for its own sake—not for the attention it might bring. The act of creating is rewarding in itself, and I’m embracing that freedom.
6. Building a Life Beyond Social Media
Social media can be a tool, but it’s not the whole story. I’m finding fulfillment in areas that exist offline—whether it’s journaling, mentoring, or exploring personal projects that align with my core values. These moments bring me peace.

I’m not perfect at this. Healing is a process, not a straight path. There are days I catch myself seeking approval or feeling the pull of people-pleasing. But I remind myself: This is my journey, and it’s worth every step.
If you’re on a similar path, I hope these words resonate. Let’s create lives where our worth isn’t measured by likes or applause, but by the quiet confidence in who we are and the impact we make.
